    And just like that, Sarah Jessica Parker took us into the future with her latest red carpet look.

    Parker, a New Yorker through and through, just like her Sex and the city character Carrie Bradshaw loves a Big Apple event, even if it’s just an excuse to dress up. And on Wednesday night, the actor certainly made a statement when she attended the New York City Ballet’s fall fashion gala, where she wore a shimmering floral Oscar de la Renta dress.

    The space age design had a strapless, poncho-like bodice at the top, which looked like a piece of aluminum foil that had been cut and folded to create chrome flowers.

    Things got a little more ethereal with the skirt, with layers of creamy white tulle giving the effect of Parker being carried on a cloud. Throughout the skirt, the gossamer fabric was decorated with the same floral motif as the bodice, but these silver leaf petals looked more like swirling eddies, adding a hypnotic effect to the whole.

    SJP maintained the metallic color scheme with her accessories, which consisted of a stunning clutch, strappy sandal heels, a dangling necklace, climbing earrings and a set of diamond bracelets. Even her eyeshadow was sparkling silver.

    If you haven’t followed Parker’s style over the years, you probably still remember that one of her most iconic looks is the tutu skirt she wears in the intro to Sex and the city. Over the years, the Emmy-nominated actor has time and again incorporated tulle into her looks, perhaps as a nod to her character, or maybe just because she loves it. What better venue to wear the material than the ballet?
