In the final seconds of the Philadelphia Eagles’ 20-16 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, head coach Nick Sirianni appeared to have a controversial moment with the home crowd at Lincoln Financial Field.

Sirianni was seen on camera gesturing to fans and pointing to his ear in a taunting manner:

Sirianni later told reporters that he was “just excited” when asked about the exchange.

“Just excited,” Sirianni said. “Just excited to get the win. Just excited to get the win. Our fans created a few false starts that allowed us to win this football match.”

Sirianni was the target of vociferous scorn from fans earlier in Sunday’s match. According to Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports, as the Eagles entered halftime tied 10-10 with the Browns, a contingent of fans could be heard chanting “Fire Nick” amid a sea of boos.

Still, a four-point win against a Cleveland team that started Sunday with a 1-4 record was enough for Sirianni to fire back at the home crowd as Philadelphia improved to 3-2.

Before Sunday’s game, Sirianni showed off his new shaved head and said he hoped to shake things up during the team’s bye week.

“I know we did the right things this week to put ourselves in position. We’ll continue to tinker with different things to try to get our guys in position. We did a few different drills. We had a few different things with the equipment that was there,” he said, according to John Clark of NBC Sports “All we care about is that the product we put on the field is a reflection of the things we do here. And our guys worked really hard on it.”

Sirianni’s different approach seemed to be paying off for the time being and Philadelphia could be on the cusp of a strong run as the next three games are against teams with records under .500.

The Eagles will look for their second straight win next Sunday when they visit the New York Giants (2-3) in the NFC East matchup.
