The Los Angeles Dodgers have reliever Ryan Brasier listed as the starter for Monday’s bullpen game.

Brasier started Game 4 of the National League Division Series, a win-or-go-home game for the Dodgers. The righthander retired one batter, gave up zero runs and walked no batters through 1.1 innings against the San Diego Padres. Brasier struck out 13 in his 19-pitch outing.

The Dodgers are hopeful that Brasier can repeat his performance from Monday afternoon against the Mets. The Dodgers pitching staff has thrown 33 consecutive scoreless innings in the postseason, tying the 1966 Baltimore Orioles, who held the Major League record.

Prior to Game 4 against the Padres, several baseball analysts believed that the Dodgers made a serious mistake by playing a bullpen game in an elimination game. However, the Dodgers’ bullpen has been out for most of the postseason.

The Dodgers were labeled as underdogs heading into October, mainly due to an injury-plagued pitching staff. It only made sense that the Dodgers wouldn’t be able to stop dynamic rosters like San Diego’s.

But the Dodgers beat the odds and they hope to continue their strong streak against New York. Jack Flaherty earned the Game 1 start. He pitched seven scoreless innings against the Mets.

As he left the mound, Dodger Stadium thanked Flaherty with a standing ovation. The Burbank native became the first Dodgers pitcher since Clayton Kershaw in 2020 to go seven innings deep in a postseason game.

“We’ll enjoy tonight, but tomorrow we have a quick turnaround,” Flaherty said. “I’m going to enjoy seeing these guys go out and compete and see whoever comes out of the bullpen, whoever gets the ball and see this lineup go to work.”

Brasier is the expected starter and he will be tasked with continuing the scoreless inning streak. The entire group is determined to avoid premature celebrations. Although the Dodgers won 9-0 yesterday, the team has already shifted their focus to Game 2.

“So there is still work to be done. Whatever the score is, who cares, it’s great,” Flaherty added. “But at the end of the day, it’s about going out there and winning ball games.”

The Dodgers now need three more wins to reach the World Series.
