Moore Fairview Elementary students were evacuated after suspicious devices were reported nearby, but police later confirmed there was no threat to the school.

MOORE, OK. –

Students at Moore Fairview Elementary School in Moore were evacuated to another campus Monday after suspicious devices were found near the school.

According to the police, a report was received around 1 p.m. that noise was coming from some containers. Out of an abundance of caution, school leaders opted to bus students to Moore West Junior High.

When investigators arrived, they found the containers. Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police Department said yes no threat to the school.

Parents received the message below.

“Dear Fairview Families,

Unknown devices were recently found outside on the Fairview campus. Oklahoma City Police are on the scene and an active investigation is underway.

Students and staff are safe and out of an abundance of caution, all students are being bused to Moore West Junior High. Students were evacuated with whatever supplies they had, so hikers and drivers may not have backpacks, house keys and other essentials.

Fairview Parents/Guardians are not to go to the Fairview campus.

DON’T COME ANYWHERE TO MWJH after 2:30 PM due to junior high dismissal.

Fairview students may be checked out by a parent/guardian by entering the MWJH gym behind the back of the school.

Fairview bus riders will be picked up for their regular routes at MWJH at the normal time.

Students won’t have their keys and belongings if left on the Fairview campus.

The safety and security of MPS students, employees and our campus locations are of the utmost importance and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation. We will provide an update once students have moved to MWJH.
