Summer time 2024: when is it time to turn back the clock?

It’s almost that time of year again: time to turn the clock back an hour and catch up on some much-needed rest.

It’s a tradition that Americans have been practicing for more than half a century, and something that other countries, such as Germany and Canada, have been doing for longer.

This year, daylight saving time in the US ends on Sunday, November 3, and starts again on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

Every year on the second Sunday in March, the clocks are moved forward one hour at 2 a.m., making it 3 a.m., marking the start of daylight saving time.

On the first Sunday in November, the clocks are set back one hour and 2 a.m. becomes 1 a.m.

“In the United States, this results in more sunlit hours in the evenings during months when the weather is warmest,” the National Institute of Standards and Technology reported.
