Bruins forward has rare fight after Panther hits David Pastrnak

BOSTON – With two of their best players missing, the Florida Panthers seemed determined to knock the Bruins out of their game by going after David Pastrnak, leading to another nasty stretch for the two rivals.

Former Bruin AJ Greer, battling Mark Kastelic in the opener, hit Pastrnak from behind on the left wing boards in the Panther zone. As Pastrnak headed to the bench, bleeding from his nose, Pavel grabbed Zacha Greer and started swinging.

According to HockeyFights.com, Zacha had only one previous NHL fight – coincidentally against current teammate Nikita Zadorov almost exactly six years ago – but landed a few quick punches before throwing Greer to the ice.

After Pastrnak returned, he laid an open-ice goal on Sam Reinhart, earning him an interference penalty. Nate Schmidt pushed Pastrnak and Brad Marchand jumped in to beat Schmidt. It was reminiscent of Marchand jumping Montreal’s Rem Pitlick for a late hit on Patrice Bergeron.

Marchand threw one punch, wrestled Schmid to the ground and jumped back on him, but both players only got minors.
