Micah Parsons regrets missing Cowboys-Lions, says Dallas looking forward to rematch

Micah Parsons apparently had a meeting with Detroit in Week 6 circled on his calendar.

The injured Cowboys pass rusher admitted as much on Monday on the latest episode of his podcast The Edge with Micah Parsons. Along with Eagles cornerback Darius Slay, Parsons said the rivalry between Dallas and Detroit is bigger than what most people think.

“I believe that because since I’ve been in Dallas, I think we’ve played Detroit three times,” Parsons said. “We beat them two years in a row, but then obviously they came back and people want to say we cheated them last year.”

Since suffering an ankle injury in Week 4, Parsons was forced to miss the “two biggest” games he expected to play this season. The first was a road meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers, thanks to his connections in Pennsylvania and his respect for members of the franchise. Second on his list was Detroit because of last season’s result.

Parsons offered some of his thoughts on Dallas’ 47-9 loss to Detroit, pointing out how the Lions emphasized the use of eligible tackles. Parsons described the situation as the “absolute height of pettiness.”

“Obviously I see all this animosity between the receivers and the DBs. I mean, yeah, we have a lot of injuries and you know what it’s like when you have injuries and things like that,” Parsons said. “There are no excuses for how that match went. Just know that we are certainly looking forward to a rematch, a revenge game ourselves.

Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis specifically spoke about Detroit’s use of the tackle-eligible formation after Sunday’s game. The Lions used the formation a total of nine times.
