Amari Cooper leaves Cleveland Browns in NFL trade

The Buffalo Bills have acquired five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper in a trade with the Cleveland Browns, the NFL team announced Tuesday.

The former Alabama All-American heads to Buffalo with a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and a seventh-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft , the Bills reported.

Cooper has been the subject of trade rumors since the preseason, when he was linked to the San Francisco 49ers. Just last week, Cooper was asked about speculation linking him to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the final season of his current contract, Cooper comes to Buffalo with 24 receptions for 250 yards and two touchdowns in six games for the Browns, who have won just one game.

Buffalo leads the AFC East with a 4-2 record, even after trading their top receiver, Stefon Diggs, to the Houston Texans this offseason.

The Bills’ best wide receiver this season, Khalil Shakir, has 20 receptions for 249 yards and two touchdowns.

In his 10th NFL season, Cooper has 691 receptions for 9,736 yards and 62 touchdowns, with seven 1,000-yard seasons.

Cooper comes to the Bills on the same day that one of Buffalo’s AFC East rivals, the New York Jets, announced they had acquired six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders.
