Aaron Judge makes the Yankees resilient to collapse

Aaron Judge’s drought is over – and the Yankees’ pennant drought doesn’t appear to be far behind.

The Major League leader in home runs finally went deep in Tuesday night’s 6-3 victory over the Guardians in Game 2 of the ALCS at Yankee Stadium, giving Judge his first home run in his past ten postseason games — and the first since September 26 — as the Yankees moved closer to claiming their first pennant in 15 years.

Only two teams have gone 2-0 in the LCS or World Series in the last twenty years. No team has blown a 2-0 lead in the ALCS since the Yankees’ unprecedented 3-0 meltdown against the Red Sox in 2004.

Another collapse could happen if Judge’s postseason struggles continue, but the soon-to-be two-time MVP could have changed the trajectory of his playoff legacy with one swing.
