Tyra Banks is back on top with her return to the catwalk at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

The supermodel made her comeback at the star-studded fashion show on Tuesday night after a nearly two-decade retirement. Gorgeous in a black bustier corset with a matching cape that gave the impression of broken glass, dazzling leggings and black strappy heels, the former talk show host closed the show, which also featured Gigi Hadid and Adriana Lima, and appearances from Cher and Tyla.

Banks, 50, hasn’t been on the catwalk since 2005.

In September, Banks told Harper’s Bazaar that her return to the runway felt like an “out-of-body experience.”

“When I decided to retire, Victoria’s Secret had come to me and a new contract was on the table,” the businesswoman said. “And I decided, ‘No, I have to be a talk show host, and I have to be trusted with my words. I don’t think I can be taken seriously if I’m still a model,’ and maybe that was true on that moment.”

But now, she said, “the world has evolved so that I can be a businesswoman and have my ice cream company and speak at corporate institutions and get my Harvard certificate and teach at Stanford and, yes, a Victoria’s Secret model.”

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show returns: What you need to know about the show

She reflected on the increased diversity on the Victoria’s Secret runway: “I feel like I broke it open, and now that they’re cracking open, I’m so excited,” she told the outlet.

She also didn’t rule out appearing more on the runway in the future, telling the outlet that after the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show she will “assess all this other stuff and figure out what I want to do and what I don’t want to do.” .”

It was also a comeback for Victoria’s Secret, which brought back its fashion show for the first time since 2018.

The retailer announced the return in May in an Instagram video, saying “We’ve read and heard the comments” in response to the six-year hiatus.

A Victoria’s Secret spokesperson confirmed the news in a statement to USA TODAY, saying the 2024 fashion show will “deliver exactly what our customers have been asking for – glamour, runway, fashion, fun, wings, entertainment – all through a powerful , modern lens that reflects who we are today.”

L Brands, the former parent company of Victoria’s Secret, canceled the show in 2019, citing the decision to end the fashion show at the time to “evolve Victoria’s Secret’s marketing” amid declining ratings and criticism of body positivity .

Gigi Hadid, Kate Moss, Cher: Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will feature a star-studded catwalk and performances

High-profile models such as Bella and Gigi Hadid, Lima, Kate Moss and Joan Smalls also rocked the catwalk during the fashion show.

Gigi Hadid, 29, was angelic in pink as she opened the show, with short, slicked back hair and her silky plunging swimsuit and angel wings taking center stage.

Moss, 50, meanwhile, wore a black lace sheer dress with a black bra, panties and matching peignoir. Her 22-year-old daughter, Lila Moss, also hit the runway.

The retailer previously announced it would have its “first-ever all-female lineup” of performances including Cher, Tyla and Blackpink’s Lisa.

Dylan Sprouse admirably supports wife Barbara Palvin at the Victoria’s Secret show

Dylan Sprouse attended the fashion show to support his wife, Hungarian model and actress Barbara Palvin, with oversized cardboard cutouts of their “children,” aka their black and white French bulldog and gray cat.

Sprouse told pre-show host Olivia Culpo on the pink carpet that he made the cutouts for Palvin in hopes it would “make her laugh.”

“It must be nerve-wracking out there in your underwear and stuff,” the actor said.

Alex Consani and Valentina Sampaio are the first trans models to walk the Victoria’s Secret show

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was a historic evening as transgender models Alex Consani and Valentina Sampaio walked the catwalk.

Sampaio became Victoria’s Secret’s first transgender model in 2019, and the first transgender model of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2020.

“This moment is one I will cherish for a lifetime,” the Brazilian model told People on Tuesday. “Today, the Victoria’s Secret family showed the world that being transgender is as exceptional and beautiful as anyone else on the runway. Inclusivity is crucial to the world we are building, and I am honored to inspire the next generation with pride, love and hope.”
