    Sydney Sweeney looks unrecognizable in new role transformation

    Sydney Sweeney graduates to a dramatic new look.

    The Euphoria actress debuted a shocking transformation on October 11 when she left her character as a boxer Christi Martin for an upcoming film about the life of the champion, who looks virtually unrecognizable.

    In photos from the set in North Carolina, Sydney ditched her striking blonde locks for a dark brown, neck-length hairstyle held back by a navy blue bandana. At a glance, the White Lotus Alum also wore a baggy zip-up sweatshirt in a navy blue hue, worn with a tan T-shirt, dark sweatpants and white sneakers. In another scene, the 27-year-old wore oversized, knee-length, gray sweat shorts and a light blue T-shirt.

    For the yet untitled project, directed by David Michod—Sydney will star next Ben Foster, Merritt Weaver And Katy O’Brian as she portrays the boxing hall of Famer who married her former boxing coach James Martin.

    For Sydney, portraying a real athlete will mean a new challenge, which she enjoys both as an actress and a producer.

    “I am a very practical employee,” Sydney said The Los Angeles Times in March. “I enjoy contributing ideas, being part of it, thinking about solutions. It just changes the whole process. It’s so hard for me now to be on a set and not be able to help and take action in any way. And the fact that you can actually have a voice and a valued opinion means so much.”

    And the priority for the Everyone but you star is the authenticity of whatever role she takes on as she noted that she even feels comfortable acting naked if there is a reason for it.

    “It’s always about whether it serves the character or not,” Sydney continued. “I’m living someone else’s life. So if it benefits a character’s development or emotional state, then it makes sense. It just depends on the character. I really look at everything that way.”

    BACKGROUND

    That character work is a process that Sydney learned to balance early on with her personal life.

    “I started working with Andy (my boyfriend’s father) and we just talked about character work,” she explained. “The most important thing he always told me was to make sure I separated myself from my characters as much as possible. Don’t put any of my own memories, emotions, feelings, people, relationships, anything into my characters’ minds so I can jump in and out.
