There are quite a few connecting lines between them Dancing with the stars‘ Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Two and a half menIt’s Charlie Sheen. For example, they were neighbors, and Chmerkovskiy was once linked to Sheen’s ex-wife Denise Richards during a season of DWTS. But Chmerkovskiy’s wife Peta Murgatroyd also once saved Sheen from murder!

“The world is a small place, but I ended up being neighbors with Charlie Sheen for about three years,” Chmerkovskiy revealed on Wednesday’s episode of the series. Behind the Velvet Rope podcast. “And my wife, Peta, even saved him from a madman who tried to kill him or something. I don’t know if she fell in love. Peta intervened and struggled with her. I mean, it was a huge story, by the way. I’m not going to talk about it.”

Sheen has had his fair share of run-ins with fans over the years who he felt were too enthusiastic, and was even investigated himself by the LAPD’s stalking unit in 2016. But Chmerkovskiy’s claim that Sheen was once fatally threatened by a fan, and that he was subsequently saved by the DWTSpro-wife of his ex-wife’s former wife DWTS Partner is a revelation.

Representatives for Chmerkovskiy, Murgatroyd and Sheen did not immediately respond Entertainment weekly‘s request for comment.

The story came as an aside in a larger discussion about Chmerkovskiy’s evolving feelings about his time as one of the DWTS‘s main advantages. At the request of Velvet rope host David Yontef “what was it like working with Denise Richards,” Chmerkovskiy replied that the Wild things And RHOBH star was “amazing,” “amazing” and “beautiful,” and that it’s a “small world” where he ended up living next door to her ex-husband.

Richards and Chmerkovskiy competed in the eighth season of Dancing with the stars in 2009. They placed 12th in the overall league, Chmerkovskiy’s lowest placing in all his 17 seasons.

“She loved dancing. She wanted to do the show. She just wasn’t a very good dancer,” Chmerkoskiy said. “I wish I could have done better… With Denise, she needed more time. She would have done better with more time and more preparation, but we just didn’t have that time.”

Sheen stepped out of the public eye in 2015 after revealing his HIV+ diagnosis. The following year he revealed his bipolar diagnosis. Legal troubles followed, including his lawsuit against Two and a half men creator Chuck Lorre, Corey Feldman’s claim that Sheen raped him during the making of the 1986 film Lucas, and a recent incident in which he was attacked by a neighbor.

Since then, he has only appeared on screen once 2017 9/11 – a 2023 cameo as himself in the Max comedy series Bookmaker.

Dancing with the stars Season 33, which does not feature Chmerkoskiy or Murgatroyd in the cast this time, airs Tuesdays at 8 PM ET/PT on ABC and Disney+.
