Fox News host Bret Baier claimed Kamala Harris was 15 minutes late for their fiery sit-down interview when he passed judgment on the vice president’s performance.

The veteran host sat down with colleague Dana Perino to give his post-mortem on the 27-minute interview after it wrapped Wednesday night, saying it had been “difficult to redirect the Democratic nominee” without interrupting her.

Baier compared Harris’s lateness for the interview to when the kicker in football calls for a timeout before kicking the field goal.

“They’re the icing on the cake,” he said. “So we were going to start at 5 p.m. This was the time they gave us. Originally we were going to do 25 or 30 minutes. They came in and said, “Well, maybe twenty.” So it is already getting less.

“And then the vice president showed up around 5:15 p.m.,” he said, adding that it was a tight turnaround because the show aired at 6 p.m.

Baier has been criticized online for repeatedly interrupting and talking about the vice president during the interview, during which the pair had several heated arguments.

In response to his interruptions, he told Perino, “When we started talking, I noticed it would be difficult to redirect her without trying to interrupt her.

“I did this with President Obama. At one point I simply said, “Mr. President, I know you like to filibuster.” Sometimes I didn’t even have the chance to redirect that way. I had many more questions.”

When his time was up, he said Harris’ campaign staff began waving their hands to signal the interview was over. “I’m talking about four people waving their hands like it has to stop,” he said.

However, Perino admitted, “Sometimes, especially when she was trying to go after Donald Trump, she was quite effective at it, trying to get her point across.”

In another interview with conservative commentator Mark Levin, Baier said he was “frustrated” because he couldn’t ask all the questions he wanted in the allotted time.

“I had so much stuff to go to,” he said. “I was hoping it would be that civilized back and forth, but it was good for her to come and I think she should do more of it, but I was just trying to get through the topics of conversation and it took a while. ”

The independent has contacted the Harris campaign for comment.

Trump weighed in on the interview, accusing Harris of having an “irremediable case of Trump derangement syndrome,” and — despite concerns about his own cognitive abilities — suggesting the vice president should take a cognitive test.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said: “She is barely in a position to talk about any other topic than the man who had the best economy ever, the strongest border in history, and who just got the unanimous support of the US Border Patrol , I! ”

He added: “She is also the WORST vice president in history but will hopefully be GONE soon. Congratulations again to Bret Baier for a tough but very honest interview, which clearly showed how completely incompetent Kamala is. For the good of our nation, its inferior cognitive ability must be put to the test immediately!

Meanwhile, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg told CNN it was an “impressive” performance by Harris. “She was tough, smart, focused and disciplined, the same qualities that made her a very effective prosecutor, and I think will make her a very effective president,” he said.

Former GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger also praised her for “going into the lion’s den.”

“She went into the lion’s den, took them, and stood upright. Fox tried their bs (sic) traps in their right-wing reality, and they deftly turned it all back on Trump and held him accountable in his own safe space,” he said.
