Pacific Northwest prepares for cold and rain as La Nina sets in

The Climate Prediction Center looks ahead to winter. NOAA released its annual winter outlook today.

WEATHER | FINAL KATU FORECAST

Forecasters say the US will see the opposite of last year, when there was a strong El Nino.

There is a 74% chance that La Nina conditions will spread across the entire country due to cooler ocean temperatures in the equatorial Pacific Ocean.

In the Pacific Northwest we could see below average temperatures and increased precipitation.

People in the south will see warmer temperatures and less precipitation.

It’s a mixed bag for much of the Midwest.
