Denver’s defense ranks fourth in points allowed (16 per game), fifth in passing yards allowed (170.2) and fourth in total yards allowed (284.3).

“They have talented players everywhere,” Rattler said. “Really good front, they’re going to show us a lot of coverage and blitzes, especially on third down. We have to have a good plan, I think we have a good plan, and we have to be dialed in down to the little details. It all comes down to the little details.”

Rattler usually handled the details well in his debut.

“I just thought he came out on top, he got the call, got us to the line of scrimmage and executed what we asked him to do from practice to the game,” Kubiak said. “He didn’t change during the game. He continued exactly as he did in training, so I was excited to see that.

“I think that’s what a good player does, whether it’s a quarterback or a tackle. If they have the same behavior and don’t surprise you in the game and just do what they do, then I think that’s a very good quality is to have.”

Even the shortened week didn’t yield Rattler, who will make his second start in five days.

“I don’t mind,” he said. “I told the guys, I think it’s kind of fun how you can take out two days of practice, get everything in there and go play. We had a great day today, both on base and third base. We played a lot with the ball today.”

PRACTICE REPORT: In addition to Olave, Shaheed and Ruiz, linebacker Pete Werner (hamstring) and quarterback Derek Carr (oblique) did not practice. A limited number of participants, including Patrick, were Taysom Hill (rib), Payton Turner (knee), Alvin Kamara (hand), Nathan Shepherd (groin), JT Gray (calf), Alontae Taylor (shoulder) and Wilson (ankle).
