Autumnal weather finally arrives in Las Vegas | Las Vegas weather

Summer is over, but has winter arrived early?

Windy conditions and dropping temperatures will make for a chilly Friday morning across much of Southern Nevada and other areas.

Patchy and blowing dust is forecast for the Las Vegas area before 2pm on Friday. The maximum speed is expected to reach 45 miles per hour, but winds of 16-20 miles per hour could gust up to 45 miles per hour, the National Weather Service says.

Lows around 59 are forecast Friday evening with north-northwesterly winds of 8-17 mph with gusts up to 15 mph.

North of the Las Vegas Valley, a wind advisory calls for northwest winds of 40-55 km/h and possible gusts up to 80 km/h. The route will run until 11 p.m. Friday for Indian Springs, Amargosa Valley, Furnace Creek, Bristlecone Pine, Shoshone, Pahrump, Stovepipe Wells, Westgard Pass and Desert Rock, the weather service said. The strong winds can make travel difficult.

Las Vegas should see a high of around 75 degrees on Saturday. The north-northwesterly wind of 13-30 km/h will become northeasterly in the afternoon. Wind gusts of up to 30 km/h can occur.

Sunday is expected to be a sunny day with a high near 77.

A wind advisory is in effect for Lincoln County until 11 p.m. Friday. Northerly winds of 30-30 km/h could produce gusts of up to 70 km/h and temperatures of up to 28 km/h are possible. A freeze warning is in effect Friday from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m.
