More details have emerged about former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler’s DUI arrest earlier this week.

Poolice in Franklin, Tennessee – a suburb of Nashville – responded to a call Thursday afternoon after Cutler allegedly rear-ended the driver in front of him.

Cutler allegedly offered the other driver $2,000 not to call police, according to police documents reviewed by WGN.

Police said Cutler, 41, had bloodshot eyes and slurred his words during the encounter.

Cutler allegedly told police he had not been drinking alcohol before later admitting he had been drinking “a little bit.”

Police said Cutler refused a field sobriety test and later had his blood drawn for testing at the hospital.

The results of the blood test are still pending.

Police added that Cutler had a rifle and a loaded Glock in his vehicle.

In addition to the first DUI offense, Cutler is charged with failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision and possession of a handgun while intoxicated.

Cutler was released Thursday on $5,000 bond.

Cutler’s NFL career lasted from 2006 to 2017.

He was a first-round pick of the Broncos and played three seasons in Denver, making the Pro Bowl in 2008, before playing eight years with the Bears.

In 2017, he was lured from the Fox Sports announcing booth to join the Dolphins.

Cutler threw for more than 35,000 yards in his NFL career, with 227 touchdown passes and 160 interceptions.

He was previously married to former MTV star Kristin Cavallari.
