Alavés made a strong start to the 2024/25 season, taking ten points from their first six games, but entered the October international break on the back of three consecutive defeats to Real Madrid, Getafe and Barcelona.

Luis GarciaThe Manchester United side have now dropped to thirteenth in the table, with ten points from nine games, but they are just three points off eighth position, and it has therefore been a positive start despite their recent problems .

The Blue and Whites finished 10th in La Liga last season on their return to the top flight, and have now featured in eight of the last nine La Liga seasons.

Alaves have collected seven points from their four home league games this season, and they will welcome a Real Valladolid team with the worst away record, having lost all four of their La Liga games on their travels.

Real Valladolid were promoted from the Segunda Division last season, with the White and Violets returning to the top flight after a year’s absence following their relegation in 2022-23.

Paulo Pezzolano‘s side struggled in the early stages of the 2024/25 season, picking up just five points from their opening nine games, leaving them 19th in the table.

The promoted team have a record of one win, two draws and six defeats in the league this season, while they have the worst defensive record with 19 goals conceded, in addition to the joint-worst attacking record, with just five goals scored.

Real Valladolid picked up a welcome point at home to Real Sociedad on September 21, but they have lost their last three in the Spanish top flight to Seville, Mallorca and Rayo Vallecano.

Team news

Kike Garcia of Deportivo Alaves in action on August 25, 2024© Image

Alaves did not report any injury concerns ahead of Friday’s match, so it is possible that head coach Garcia will have a full squad to choose from against Real Valladolid.

The manager is expected to resist the temptation to shake up his package after losing by three goals to Barcelona last time out, but there could be a change in the final third of the pitch, with Kike Garcia possible replacement Toni Martinez.

Carlos Vicente has scored two goals from a wide position this season, and the 25-year-old will be in the XI again, while Stoichkov should remain in the number 10 position for the home team.

As for Real Valladolid, Cesar de la Hoz is out, while Javi Sanchez And Cenk Ozkacar remain major doubts due to foot and hamstring problems respectively, with the pair facing late fitness tests ahead of the match.

Luc Rosa meanwhile, picked up a landmark yellow card in the game against Rayo Vallecano last time out, so a change at left-back will have to be made for the visitors on Friday evening.

Raul Moro is the team’s leading goalscorer in the league this season with two, and the 21-year-old is expected to return to the starting line-up against Alaves and possibly take the place of Darwin Machis.

Possible starting line-up of Alaves:
Silvera; Tenaglia, Abqar, Mourino, Sánchez; Guevara, Blanco; Vicente, Stoichkov, Rebbach; Kike Garcia

Real Valladolid possible starting lineup:
Hein; Perez, Bah, Torres, Chasco; Martin, Comert, Amallah; Ndiaye, Latasa, Moro

We say: Alaves 2-1 Real Valladolid

Alaves has already scored eleven times in the league this season and Real Valladolid have conceded a lot. Goals should be scored on Friday and we expect an entertaining affair, with Alaves likely to have enough to return to victories against Real Valladolid, who have struggled on their travels this season.
