It wasn’t that long ago that Warren Zeiders dropped his last album: Relapsea late summer release in which the artist reflected on addiction, pain, a past full of missteps but a future full of hope. The ‘Pretty Little Poison’ star has already started providing fans with even more new music. This time it’s just as personal.

His latest album comes in the form of ‘You For A Reason’, a deceptively endearing ballad that actually harbors a rather melancholic truth: all good things must come to an end.

Throughout the song, “You For A Reason” has that emotional country sound, full of groaning steel and sad guitar. The somber tune builds, the opening strings are soon joined by thundering drums and Zeiders’ earth-shattering croon for a gut feeling of a farewell song.

And there’s only so much you can do
I was lonely as leaves when the trees laid them down
Until I looked up and saw you

‘You For A Reason’ finds the artist in a cold, desolate period of his life – lost, lonely and looking for a light in the darkness. By the end of the first verse, he seems to have found some peace in a woman.

He was experiencing a time in his life when he… “I needed a woman to hold me / An angel to know me.” He thought exactly that.

‘You For A Reason’ creates a beautiful and heartwarming ballad. That is, until the truth comes out. He sings: “Girl, even if it was just for a season / It was you for a reason.”

In other words, the comfort he found in this person was only temporary, but her presence served a purpose.

Even if only for a moment, he found someone who understood him, who heard him, who made him feel seen. Even though the relationship didn’t last long, her support and the temporary relief it provided will probably stay with him forever.

Not everything is meant to last – and as the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end – but hopefully they carry with them a lesson that will last.

“I wrote this song over a year ago about a girl who came into my life and changed it for the better,” Zeiders shared about the new song in a social media post. “She pushed me to be better as a man in my daily life and in my career. Things didn’t end the way we hoped, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. She only came into my life for a season, but it was her for a reason.”
