Manchester United, meanwhile, are hanging out on the Mezzanine of Purgatory, so expect a lot more noise from offstage afterwards if they don’t get three points at Old Trafford.

Rob Smyth has all the details.

Preamble

We’ve chased our international delights here, unearthed our Nations League treasures there, and now we’ve broken through to the other side. The Premier League is back, baby, after the last interminable hiatus, and while the Doors aren’t exactly a fashionable reference point these days, it was them or the Mike Sammes Singers again. Anyway, here are the 3pm kick-offs…

  • Fulham vs Aston Villa

  • Ipswich Town vs Everton

  • Manchester United-Brentford

  • Newcastle United vs Brighton & Hove Albion

  • Southampton vs Leicester City
