Inter Miami predicted lineup vs. New England Revolution: MLS

Inter Miami will take the field for the first time in two weeks to take on New England Revolution on the final day of the MLS regular season.

Unlike fellow Eastern Conference teams DC United, Atlanta United, CF Montréal and Philadelphia Union who are all vying for the final two MLS Cup Playoff spots, Miami has already secured its spot in the postseason. The Herons also have home field advantage during the playoffs since claiming the Supporters’ Shield title and have the best record in MLS.

However, Miami still has plenty to play for on MLS Decision Day Saturday afternoon. The South Florida team has 71 points and can break New England’s points record in a single season with a home win. The Revs set the current record of 73 points in 2021 under former head coach Bruce Arena.

Although the legendary Lionel Messi played the full 90 minutes against Bolivia, scoring a hat-trick and grabbing two assists, Miami boss Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino was still able to play the 37-year-old from the start to help Miami break history . . It’s worth noting that Miami won’t play again until the following weekend, when their first-round opponents are known after the Wild Card games.

Since Miami is playing at home, it would make sense for Martino to go for a 4-3-3 formation and play on the front foot from the first minute.

GK: Drake Callender—The USMNT reserve shot-stopper gets the nod between the sticks as he looks to preserve his sixth clean sheet of the season against the lowest-scoring team in MLS.

RB: Marcelo Weigandt—The attacking full-back retains his place in Martino’s team, aiming to push up the pitch into the wide areas to create problems for the Revs’ defence.

CB: Tomás AvilésThe young defender will look to continue his strong recent form with the play-offs on the horizon. While he has a rushing challenge, he is vital to Miami’s lineup.

CB: Sergio Busquets—Busquets continues his run of games at the heart of the defense and plays a key role in the Herons’ build-up.

CM: Yannick Bright—Bright remains one of Miami’s most underrated players in his first season in MLS. Don’t be surprised if Martino leans on him during the postseason.

CM: Federico Redondo—The 21-year-old has slowly improved over the course of the season and will be hoping to put his best foot forward in the coming weeks. Even though he isn’t the best on the ball at times, his work off the ball and his positioning make him valuable to the Miami team.

RW: Lionel Messi—The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is part of the jump for Miami as he looks to cap off an incredible regular season and make history with the Herons.
