The trailer for Prophecy shows a major threat at NYCC

The Dune: Prophecy cast and producers teased new series details and how the show is connected to Denis Villeneuve’s films on Thursday while discussing the HBO and Max series at New York Comic Con.

New footage was teased during the hour-long panel, along with appearances from showrunner Alison Schapker, executive producer Jordan Goldberg, along with cast members Emily Watson (Valya Harkonnen), Olivia Williams (Tula Harkonnen), Travis Fimmel (Desmond Hart), Sarah- Sofie Boussnina (Princess Ynez), Josh Heuston (Constantine Corrino), Chloe Lea (Lila) and Jessica Barden (young Valya Harkonnen).

The panel opened with a trailer predicting trouble ‘bigger than just Arrakis’, with challenges for the king hidden in plain sight and a mission to erase the sisters from existence. Schapker teased shortly afterwards where the series will begin, telling attendees “we are in the shadow of the wars” and in the aftermath of the battle against AI. “Computers, thinking machines, are prohibited. Does this mean they don’t float around the universe in different ways, who knows? the showrunner said. “People should strive to fill the gaps of what technology used to achieve. Now people are coming to try to push the boundaries of what it means to be human.”

Later in the panel, Schapker added that the team “wrote a program that is about power, truth and stories, and what it means to have charismatic leaders. Is that something that needs to be followed; something to be suspicious of? Dune raises all kinds of questions about how power operates in the light, but also how it operates in the shadows.

“The sisterhood certainly has a prominent public place, and they have these jobs as truth tellers. They find themselves in the halls of power, teaching girls and insinuating themselves into noble families. But they also pull the strings behind the scenes. That certainly speaks to any time period and highlights some of the questions we can all ask in power at some point, including today,” she continued. “In the films they come into full force and make their movements, but they are shrouded in a kind of mysticism. One of the great things about this series is that we certainly don’t want to take away their mystique, but we do want to go behind their closed doors to see how they work.”

She further teased that the series will feature the Atreides, as well as the “beginning of the Harkonnen family at a time where they aren’t quite the more monstrous version you see 10,000 years later.” Instead, they are the seeds of the Harkonnen family in an earlier time, when “you are dealing with people who have enormous strength and willingness to go to any lengths to achieve their goals and harbor a great grudge.”

As for how the show will be connected to the recent films, Schapker highly praised Villeneuve’s films and told fans that they set the bar high and really opened up. Dune for many people – has only amplified the incredible work out there. We definitely felt like we wanted to strive in every way possible to be worthy of holding another corner of the city Dune universe.”

Later, while discussing the Dune Experience activation and the apparel, the cast and creative team also teased the production team’s work. “The crew from top to bottom has done an incredible job, and I think this is a testament to that Duneand the stories that people reach so deeply to realize it and do it justice and make it with love,” the showrunner said. “There is not a detail that we have not thought about and considered carefully. That really shows.”

The prequel to director Villeneuve’s two-part film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s critically acclaimed science fiction epic, this small screen version of the prequel from Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson Sisterhood of Dune centers on two Harkonnen sisters who battle against the forces that threaten the future of humanity and form the Bene Gesserit sect in the process.

The conversation, which served as the first public discussion of the film by members of the series’ creative team and cast, expanded heavily on the thematic and literal struggles for power and control already depicted in two previous teasers for the series. was to see.
