Hadley opened the second with an accidental low kick, immediately halting the action. Once the fight resumed, Hadley began to kick his offense into gear, and as the action heated up, an eye poke from Hadley with less than two minutes to go forced another stoppage, leading to a point deduction from referee Chris Tognoni. On the restart, Hadley finally attempted his sausage attack, but was unable to get Smotherman to the mat.

The bantamweights took it out to start the final frame, with Hadley briefly flustered before briefly locking Smotherman against the fence. Once they broke up, they continued to trade blows, with Smotherman once again holding the edge. A low kick from Smotherman halted the action for a third time, but Hadley quickly got back in action, hoping to turn things around in the final minute, but that was not to be.
