Christmas in Biltmore begins as the estate recovers from Helene

The Biltmore Estate is announcing reopening plans in time for the holidays, just over three weeks after sustaining damage from Hurricane Helene.

In an Oct. 19 Facebook post, the Biltmore said the estate plans to reopen Nov. 2 and welcome guests to celebrate the holidays at Christmas at Biltmore.

In recognition of the recent devastation in the region, the post said the house has been a “testimony to the resilience of this community” for more than 125 years, with the hurricane being no exception.

“Our region’s compassion and resolve are straining every day from under the weight of this storm,” the Biltmore wrote. “Thanks to the incredible work of so many generous people, recovery is happening all around us.”

In an Oct. 4 release, the Biltmore Estate shared details of the damage the property suffered during Helene. The release said that while the estate saw several areas of damage, the wooded areas of the 8,000-acre estate suffered the most extensive damage as “wind damage was extensive to sites and some structures.”

The Biltmore said welcoming guests to the estate is a crucial support for the community, and as the property prepares to open its doors, those interested in visiting can find more information via their website.
