Dodgers shortstop Tommy Edman wins 2024 NLCS MVP

LOS ANGELES – Tommy Edman drove in four runs in the Game 6 pennant clincher for the Dodgers on Sunday night and was named NLCS MVP for his outstanding series against the Mets.

Edman went 11-for-27 during the series, hitting .407/.393/.630 with three doubles and a home run in six games. After driving in three runs with a pair of doubles in Game 4 in New York, Edman homered and doubled in Sunday’s clincher.

His 11 RBI tied a Dodgers record for any postseason series, tying Maury Wills and Ron Fairly from the 1965 World Series and Bill Russell – who threw out the first pitch on Sunday prior to Game 6 – in the 1978 World Series.

Edman’s 11 hits also tied a Dodgers postseason record for a series, tied with Corey Seager of the 2020 NLCS.

Edman was acquired from the Cardinals at the trade deadline in a three-team deal and helped stabilize the lineup when he returned from the injured list in mid-August. The switch-hitter played both center field and shortstop, depending on the need. With Miguel Rojas out for the NLCS with a torn adductor, Edman played every inning at shortstop during the series.

Next up for Edman and the Dodgers is the World Series against the Yankees, which starts Friday at Dodger Stadium.
