Russia Ukraine war latest news: Leaked video shows North Korean soldiers being equipped for war, Kiev claims

Zelensky signs cooperation agreement with Croatia

Ukraine has published a new video showing dozens of North Korean recruits lining up to pick up Russian military fatigues. The video confirms Russia’s deployment of troops sent by Pyongyang in the conflict, Kiev claims.

In the video, North Korean soldiers are seen lining up to collect bags, clothes and other clothing from Russian soldiers. “We received this video from our own sources. We cannot provide additional verification of the sources that provided us with this information due to security reasons,” said Ihor Solovey, head of the Ukrainian Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security.

This comes as Defense Secretary John Healey fired back at Russia, saying it is the only country at war in Ukraine, while dismissing the Russian ambassador’s claim that Britain was engaged in a proxy conflict.

Earlier, Russia said four of its firefighters were injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on a major explosives factory and an airport deep in Russia.

Russia attacks Kiev with drones for the second night in a row

Russia launched several waves of drones targeting Kiev for a second night in a row, damaging residential buildings and injuring at least one civilian, Ukrainian officials said early today.

“Another night, another worry,” said Serhiy Popko, head of Kiev’s military government. “The enemy is not reducing the intensity of air strikes on Ukraine and Kiev.”

About 10 drones that targeted the city in several waves and from different directions were destroyed, Popko said. Although none of the weapons hit their targets, falling debris injured at least one man, he added.

Debris fell on three of Kiev’s main districts, causing some damage to roofs and facades of several residential buildings and electricity cables, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

Report: Trump blames Zelensky and Biden – but not Putin – for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

Donald Trump held Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and President Joe Biden responsible for the war between Russia and Ukraine in an interview – but did not refer to Vladimir Putin.

Two and a half years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Trump placed the blame for the conflict squarely on Zelensky and Biden during an interview with podcaster Patrick Bet-David that aired Thursday.

“I think Zelensky is one of the biggest salesmen I’ve ever seen,” Trump said, grumbling about how much help the US has given Ukraine.

Ukraine releases video showing North Korean soldiers in Russia

Ukrainian officials have released a video claiming dozens of North Korean recruits are lining up to pick up Russian military fatigues.

The video confirms Russia’s deployment of troops sent by Pyongyang in the conflict, they claimed. In the video, North Korean soldiers are seen lining up to collect bags, clothes and other clothing from Russian soldiers.

“We received this video from our own source. We cannot provide additional verification of the sources that provided us with this information due to security reasons,” said Ihor Solovey, head of the Ukrainian Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security.

“The video clearly shows North Korean citizens being given Russian uniforms under the direction of the Russian military,” he said.

“For Ukraine, this video is important because it is the first video evidence showing North Korea participating in the war on Russia’s side. Now not only with weapons and grenades, but also with personnel.”

The center claims the images were taken in recent days by a Russian soldier. It is not stated how the images were obtained. The location is unknown.

Russian troops storm a city in eastern Ukraine, bloggers say

Russian troops are engaged in street-to-street fighting with Ukrainian troops on the outskirts of the eastern Ukrainian city of Selydove, military bloggers say.

“Street by street there is fighting in the city,” said Yuri Podolyaka, a prominent Ukrainian-born pro-Russian military blogger. “The attack on Selydove has intensified.”

Other pro-Russian bloggers published a video of the intensive shelling of Selydove. Reuters could not immediately verify the images. The Russian Defense Ministry made no comment.

The Ukrainian Army General Staff said in a late-night report yesterday that Ukrainian forces had repelled 41 Russian attacks around several towns and villages, including Selydove. According to the report, four battles were still raging in the area.

The popular Ukrainian war blog DeepState showed that Selydove is in Ukrainian hands.

According to pro-Russian bloggers, Moscow’s forces are trying to gain control of the entire Donbas region.

The Ukrainian army denies Russian advance in Khasiv Yar

Putin’s forces have failed to “gain a foothold” in the war city of Khasiv Yar, despite claims of Russian advances.

Anastasia Bobovnikov, a spokesperson for the Luhansk Operational Tactical Group, told the Kiev independent: “I do not confirm the fact that Russian forces have managed to gain a foothold in the canal… or anywhere in the direction of Khasiv Yar.

“The overall strategic position of the city remains under the control of Ukraine.”

It comes after crowdsourced war monitoring website DeepState reported on October 17 that Russian forces had made progress.

Bobovnikov explained that groups of Russian soldiers had occasionally crossed the channel and carried out attacks on Ukrainian positions, adding: “However, such maneuvers are associated with significant losses for the Russians. Ukrainian forces quickly repel such attacks and push back Russian units.”

Watch: Moment when Ukrainian prisoners of war are reunited with their families

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has shared a video of the moment Ukrainian prisoners of war returned to their families.

In a message on X he said: “95 of our people are back home. These are the warriors who defended Mariupol and ‘Azovstal’, as well as the regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkov, Kiev, Chernihiv and Kherson.

“Every time Ukraine rescues its people from Russian captivity, we bring closer the day when freedom will be returned to all those still held in Russian captivity.

“I thank the team involved in finding and freeing prisoners. We are doing everything we can to bring back all our people held by Russia. I am grateful to the warriors who replenish the exchange fund and all our partners who help us.”
