Tyler, the Creator Shares New Song ‘NOID’, Video Feat. Ayo Edebiri: Look

Last week, Tyler, The Creator shared a mysterious, catchy teaser video for a new song called “St. Chroma.” The video hinted at a new project called Chromacopyand Tyler confirmed it a day later. Chromacopy is indeed a new Tyler, The Creator album, and it will be released in just a week – also in the middle of the week. Since then, Tyler has revealed the (amazing) lineup for his Camp Flog Gnaw festival, and now he has another track and video for us.

Tyler, The Creator’s latest song is called ‘Noid’ and it’s all about the paranoia that comes with celebrity. As with “St. Chroma,” the song comes with a video that Tyler himself directed. (This time he doesn’t use his Wolf Haley alter-ega; it’s credited as being directed by Tyler Okonma, his government name.) Again, we’re not sure if we’ll get the entire song, although this time the video is almost three minutes long. As with “St. Chroma’, where Tyler wears a plastic face mask and has a duo-hawk hairstyle, and it starts in black and white before transitioning to color. This time it’s a surreal, exaggerated take on celebrity paranoia, and Ayo Edebiri, star of stage and screen, has a cameo as an invasive and unhinged fan.

As for the song, it’s weird! “Noid” features psych-rock guitars, layered harmonies, possibly sampled African vocals, and a fast Tyler rap verse. It’s slow and layered, and it seems designed to evoke the excited, panicky feeling that Tyler describes in the song. Check it out below.

Chromacopy releases 10/28 on Columbia.
