Nottingham Forest v Crystal Palace LIVE

FULL-TIME: NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1-0 CRYSTAL PALACE

Crystal Palace’s torrid winless start to the Premier League season was extended to eight games as Oliver Glasner’s side lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest on Monday.

After an incredible run of form at the end of the 2023/24 season, which saw them win six of their last seven games, Palace have made a difficult start to the 2024/25 season with just three points from eight games.

But they started the encounter on the City pitch brilliantly, with Eddie Nketiah forcing a save from Matz Sels before Eberechi Eze hit the outside of the post with an excellent left-footed strike from distance.

Forest quickly found their feet and responded with chances of their own. Ryan Yates hit the base of the post with a header before Elliot Anderson went in and out of the penalty area, beating three defenders before his effort was thwarted.

Eze could count himself unlucky again on the hour mark when his thumping attempt from 30 meters was tapped onto the crossbar by Sels.

And just five minutes later the hosts found the breakthrough when the in-form Chris Wood latched onto a loose ball with a fantastic first-time strike from outside the area that weaved its way past Dean Henderson.

Jeffrey Schlupp came closest to equalizing nine minutes from time, but Forest’s tight defense held firm to secure their first home win of the season, moving them up to eighth in the Premier League – despite the absence of Nuno Espirito Santo on the sidelines when he was handed a three-match ban.
