Severe weather possible on Monday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A cold front and upper level low pressure system will move across Nebraska on Monday, bringing showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be severe in parts of western and central Nebraska. Cooler temperatures for central and western Nebraska, but still warm and breezy in eastern Nebraska. Tuesday will be dry with continued above-average temperatures, but a cold front will bring more seasonal temperatures to the state on Wednesday.

There is a slight risk of severe weather in far south-central, southwestern and northern Kansas on Monday. Large hail and damaging winds are the biggest threats, but some isolated tornadoes are also possible. A marginal risk of severe weather Monday for parts of central and eastern Nebraska. Partly to mostly sunny with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible in Nebraska today. The best chance for rain in the Lincoln area is late afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the 60s and 70s for central and western Nebraska, while the 80s will occur in eastern Nebraska. South wind 10 to 20 km/h with gusts around 30 km/h.

Some parts of Nebraska could see a half inch to about three-quarters of an inch Monday and Monday evening.
