Lions WR Jameson Williams is reportedly being suspended for two games for violating the performance-enhancing drug policy

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is facing a two-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substance policy, according to ESPN’s Eric Woodyard.

It’s unclear what actions Williams took to violate PES policy, but he said he has “no choice but to take it on the chin.”

The league has not yet announced the suspension, but it appears Williams will not appeal. Once it’s official, he will be eligible to return for the Lions’ game against the Houston Texans on Nov. 10.

Williams has 361 yards and three touchdowns, both career highs, on 17 catches so far this season. Williams is also averaging 21.2 yards per reception, which is second-best in the league behind only Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce. He is also second on the team in both receiving yards and touchdowns behind Amon-Ra St. Brown.

The Lions first selected him with the No. 22 pick out of Alabama in the 2022 NFL Draft. The 23-year-old had just one catch and lost four yards in the Lions’ 31-29 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Williams was also suspended for four games last year for betting on non-NFL games in 2022. He was initially suspended for six games, but the suspension was shortened after the league adjusted its betting rules and penalties. He missed the first eleven games of his rookie season while recovering from an ACL injury he suffered in college, so he has yet to play a full season in his NFL career.

The Lions improved to 5-1 on the season after Sunday’s win in Minneapolis, which marked their fourth straight victory. The win also gave them a slight lead over the Vikings in the NFC North race.

While Williams serves his suspension, the Lions will first host the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon before traveling to Green Bay to take on the Packers next weekend.
