Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin feared he suffered a dislocated ankle in the loss to Ravens

With only about a minute left in the loss, Godwin hauled in a 21-yard reception and was tackled by Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith. Godwin remained on the ground for a few minutes after the tackle and was eventually taken away with an air throw to the leg.

Bowles did not say whether Godwin was transported to a hospital after the game. While the exact severity and recovery time of the injury are not yet known, Bowles’ words indicate the Buccaneers may have to prepare for significant time without one of their star receivers.

“Our prayers are out for him, Chris is a great player and he’s even more of a great person,” Bowles said. “You can’t say much, you feel sorry for him.”

Godwin had seven receptions for 65 yards before leaving the game, putting him at 50 catches for 576 yards on the season. He leads the league through the first seven weeks.

While Godwin’s injury was the most notable and likely the most expensive, the Buccaneers will also have to deal with the possibility of their other starting winger Mike Evans missing time as well. Evans left the game in the second quarter after suffering a hamstring injury, but Bowles had no update on how serious that injury could be.

The Buccaneers, who fell to 4-3 with the loss, next face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, October 27.
