Five-star recruit Andrew Babalola is committed to Michigan football

Although on a two-game losing streak, the Michigan football program pulled off a huge win off the field Monday night.

Overland Park (Kan.) Blue Valley Northwest 2025 five-star offensive lineman Andrew Babalola committed to the Wolverines over fellow finalists Auburn, Missouri, Oklahoma and Stanford, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

The 6-foot-1, 280-pounder immediately becomes Michigan’s top-ranked verbal prospect this cycle at No. 21 nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is also the Wolverines’ first five-star recruit since Will Johnson in the class of 2022.

Babalola, who has reported 35 offers, has delayed his college decision several times, but the wait was worth it for Michigan, which has now secured two commitments in the past week after going nearly two months without one. The talented tackle becomes the 17th verbal commitment this cycle and the fourth top-100 prospect.

He took official visits to Michigan, Stanford, Oklahoma, Missouri and Auburn this summer and continued to weigh his options into the fall. The Wolverines may have been 4-3 in 2024, but bolstered their future offensive line with the addition of Babalola. He is the third-ranked offensive lineman in Michigan’s 2025 class, joining four-star Avery Gach and three-star Kaden Strayhorn.

“A tremendously gifted offensive tackle prospect who is relatively newer to the game and possesses virtually unlimited long-term potential,” 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks wrote in his scouting report. “As a senior, you show noticeably more conviction in block finishing. Excellent physical metrics with a frame approaching 6-6 and 34+ arms with huge legs. Leaning with ample frame space, although perhaps a tad narrower than originally perceived on live evaluation. Natural bender who plays with a wide base in pass protection, where he is able to consistently and effectively anchor versus power. Originally a basketball player whose functional athleticism in pads reflects that background. Logged valuable two-way photos earlier in high school. He is still developing hand placement technique and can use length to his advantage more consistently.
