Monday Night Football: Ravens dominate Buccaneers, Cardinals stun Chargers with game-winning field goal

Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens had no problems Monday night.

The Ravens cruised to a dominant 41-31 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first game of a “Monday Night Football” doubleheader at Raymond James Stadium in Florida. It marked their fifth straight win and moved them to 5-2 on the season.

After immediately falling into a 10-point hole, the Ravens put up 34 unanswered points to completely stun Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers. Jackson threw for five touchdowns, two of which went to Mark Andrews, and Derrick Henry racked up 169 rushing yards — thanks in part to a wild 81-yard run in the second half.

The Buccaneers scored 21 points in the fourth quarter, but their offense came far too late to give them a realistic chance at victory. They also lost both star wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Godwin went down in the closing minutes with a horrific leg injury and had to be taken off the field.

In the other game of the night, Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals had a perfect game-winning drive to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers 17-15 at State Farm Stadium.

The Cardinals, after giving up a fifth field goal to Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker and dropping a point just inside the two-minute warning, quickly marched down the field to set up a 32-yard game-winning field goal by Chad Ryland to make.

Justin Herbert threw for 349 yards in the loss to the Chargers, but he didn’t throw a touchdown. He led them on a long eight-minute drive in the fourth quarter to set up Dicker’s fifth field goal, but they left too much time on the clock for James Conner and the Cardinals. Conner ran for 101 yards, had another 51 receiving yards and set up the final field goal with a huge reception of 33 yards on the winning drive.

The win pushed Arizona to 3-4 on the season, while the Chargers fell to 3-3.

  • Final: Cardinals 17, Chargers 15

The Cardinals made it happen. Chad Ryland made a 32-yard field goal to lift Arizona to the two-point victory and cap off a perfect game-winning drive.

  • Chargers-Cardinals: James Conner puts Cardinals in position

After being released on a questionable, unnecessary roughness call, James Conner just caught a 33-yard pass to put the Cardinals in scoring position.

  • Chargers-Cardinals: Cameron Dicker puts LA up 15-14

Cameron Dicker is a perfect 5-for-5 tonight, and the Chargers are back in the lead. That was a 15-play, 77-yard drive that lasted more than eight minutes.

  • Chargers-Cardinals: Chargers eyeing a fifth field goal?

Justin Herbert had the Chargers moving, and Jim Harbaugh lost it on the sideline after a pass interference call was waived, but the Cardinals just got a critical stop on third down.

It will be in fourth place when the Chargers come back from the two-minute warning. Arizona still leads 14-12.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Chris Godwin has been carted off

Chris Godwin’s leg injury looked terrible in the final minute of Tampa’s loss to the Ravens.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Chris Godwin is injured and waived

The Tampa receiver goes down as his team tries to drive down the field with the score down less than a minute at 10. His lower left leg was hit hard and he was just carted off the field. The injury was gruesome and ESPN chose not to show the replay.

Mike Evans already left this match injured. Now another star receiver is broken.

  • Chargers cards: LA adds a FG

Cameron Dicker remains the MVP for the Chargers tonight as he makes a 47-yard kick to cut Arizona’s lead to 14-12.

Dicker is 4-for-4 on field goals that night.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Touchdown Tampa

Baker Mayfield finds a wide open Rachaad White, who waltzes into the end zone untouched.

Raven’s lead is cut to 41-31 with 1:58 to play. There will probably be another onside kick.

  • Chargers-Cards: Kyler Murray sprints for a go-ahead TD!

Kyler Murray attempts a 44-yard Arizona touchdown run, and just like that, the Cardinals are back in front.

    It’s a 14-9 lead.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Tampa scores, gets rebound

Baker Mayfield and Co. quickly march down the field for a 9-play, 70-yard scoring drive, capped by Bucky Irving’s 1-yard TD.

Then the Bucs manage to recover their onside kick. And they’re still fighting in this one!

It’s 41-24 Ravens with less than 4 minutes to play.

  • Chargers-Cards: Bolts take the lead with a FG

Cameron Dicker caps a long Chargers drive with a 28-yard field goal after the offense stalls at the 10-yard line. Dicker scored all nine points for LA tonight.

LA takes a 9-7 lead late in the third quarter.

  • Touchdown Ravens!

This Baltimore offense cannot be stopped. This time it’s a pass to Derrick Henry for a 13-yard touchdown.

That gives FIVE TD passes to Lamar Jackson.

The route continues in Tampa. It’s a 41-18 lead in Baltimore.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Derrick Henry breaks a big run

The Ravens RB are off to the races again, this time with QB Lamar Jackson laying down a block.

  • Chargers-Cards: Arizona retired at 4th

The Cardinals bring in backup QB Clayton Tune to attempt a QB sneak on both 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1. He gets stuffed both times and the Chargers take over on downs near midfield.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Touchdown, Tampa

Finally, the Buccaneers have found the end zone again. Baker Mayfield hit Rachaad White for an 11-yard touchdown. They also converted the two-point conversion, so Baltimore’s lead is now 34-18.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Bucs take over after a fumble

Well, there’s the first slip of the night for Baltimore. Lamar Jackson threw it back to Zay Flowers, who dropped it for the fumble and the Buccaneers recovered. They initially ran it back for a touchdown, but that play was called back.

So Baker Mayfield will take over at the Baltimore 30. If a comeback is going to happen, they need a touchdown here quickly.

  • Chargers-Cardinals: Chargers are forced to punt from the break

The Chargers’ first drive after halftime started promisingly, but a holding penalty and a sack pushed them far back and ultimately forced them to punt. So the Cardinals will take over inside their own 10.

  • Ravens-Bucs: Baltimore leads 34-10 after 3

The Ravens have the ball and are once again driving with a 24-point lead in Tampa. They are just 15 minutes away from a fifth straight win.
