Freeze watch in effect as Western Washington braces for coldest fall temperatures yet

Seattle is expecting its coldest weather yet this fall season Thursday and Friday morning.

The storm system that caused the messy weekend weather is finally clearing.

Behind it, cooler and drier air flows in from the north. This will cause temperatures to drop quickly in the coming nights.

With those colder temperatures, some locations may briefly dip below freezing around sunrise on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. A freeze watch will be in place for these locations Wednesday and Thursday mornings, including the Hood Canal area, the southwestern interior, the lower Chehalis Valley area and the eastern lowlands of Puget Sound.

If you live in these areas and have plants that do not do well in the cold in these areas, consider covering them or bringing them indoors for the next few nights. It may be a good idea to winterize outdoor pipes in these areas to prevent burst pipes.

Mornings will be milder this weekend as our next weather maker brings rain.

You will always find the current forecast here.
