Cold tonight, clear, mild and breezy on Saturday

BILLINGS — It was nice to get some much-needed rain and mountain snow in Montana and Wyoming from our last storm, but now that that storm has left the region, we will have fewer clouds and colder lows tonight and Saturday morning. Parts of Wyoming are under a freeze warning for lows in the 20s. Bring your pets indoors and stay warm.

A ridge of high pressure will begin to form over the Rockies this weekend, which will bring more sunshine and a warming trend. There will still be gusty winds on Saturday, but weaker on Sunday. A new low pressure low approaches early next week, which will lead to increasing cloudiness on Monday and a cooling trend through Tuesday.

We don’t have much precipitation in our extended forecast, but right now it looks like Tuesday offers the best chance for rain and mountain snow. However, quantities will be limited at all heights. A small ridge will build overhead on Wednesday and Thursday, but next week we can expect breezy to breezy and mild weather most days.
