Inter have released an official update on Francesco Acerbi’s condition as the outcome of medical tests confirmed the defender will almost certainly be ruled out for the Nerazzurri’s match against Juventus on Sunday.

Acerbi was taken off just before the half-hour mark of Inter’s 1-0 win over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico with a muscle problem, and his presence in the upcoming Derby d’Italia was already unlikely.

An official statement published by Inter said Acerbi suffered ‘a sprain in the biceps femoris of his left thigh’, as revealed by an MRI scan undergone on Tuesday.
