Former President Bill Clintonwho was impeached for lying about and obstructing an investigation into an extramarital affair he had with a White House intern during his presidency, named Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake “physically attractive” as she campaigned for her opponent in Arizona on Thursday.

Clinton paid Lake the compliment while advocating for Rep.’s election. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), the Democratic candidate for Senate in the Grand Canyon State.

“And one of the things we have to do is choose the man who just introduced me? And I thought, you know, this is a beautiful microcosm of Kamala Harris’ campaign for president,” Clinton began. “You have a person who grew up under sometimes challenging circumstances, who made something of his life against someone who is physically attractive, but believes that politics is a performance art. And true, like J.D. Vance., he must prostrate before the master.’

It is unclear whether Clinton was suggesting that Trump or Vance are also physically attractive.

Lake, who first rose to prominence as the Republican Party’s 2022 gubernatorial candidate, is expected to handily lose her race against Gallego despite the fact that Donald Trump is the favorite to earn Arizona’s electoral votes in the presidential race.

While Clinton was impeached for his affair with Monica Lewinskyhe was ultimately not convicted by the Senate. He has also been accused of sexual harassment by Paula Jones and rape by Juanita Broaddrick.
