Broncos WR hit in head and arm, has ‘minor injuries’

Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Josh Reynolds was injured in a shooting in Colorado last Friday, the team announced.

Reynolds, now a member of the Denver Broncos, and two others were followed by a group of men from a Colorado strip club and shot at, according to a report from Denver TV Station 9News. The report says Reynolds was shot twice, in the arm and the back of the head.

Shortly after the report was released, the Broncos released a statement saying Reynolds suffered “minor injuries” and could not comment further due to the ongoing litigation. Denver police announced Wednesday that they have arrested two men in connection with the shooting, the report said.

Reynolds played in five games for Denver after joining the Broncos as a free agent and has 12 catches for 183 yards. He was placed on injured reserve after Week 5 with a broken finger and missed the past two games.

Reynolds signed a two-year, $9 million contract with Denver in free agency in March. Reynolds joined the Lions in the first year of the rebuild under Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes in 2021 and played in 38 games in Detroit, finishing with 97 catches for 1,393 yards and 10 touchdowns. He started on the outside on the NFC championship team last season, when Campbell said, “He’s been kind of an unsung hero for us because he’s worked so many different jobs.”

The Lions have replaced Reynolds’ production with the breakout Jameson Williams, who is now serving a two-game suspension, and other options like Kalif Raymond and former Bronco Tim Patrick.
