Sean McVay is taking a strong stance on the Rams trade rumors

This week, rumors swirled about the possibility of the Los Angeles Rams trading Cooper Kupp. Those rumors surfaced after Sean McVay addressed the media on Monday, and he didn’t speak to reporters again until after the Rams’ win over the Vikings on Thursday night.

At his first press conference since the world started talking about Kupp being on the trade block, McVay left no doubt about what the future holds for the Rams’ Super Bowl MVP.

He took a strong stance on the rumors, quickly shooting them down and calling out the credibility of those reports. He said some of the rumors floating around are “simply not true” and while he acknowledged that teams have made calls about Kupp, the Rams apparently haven’t entertained them.

“Teams have reached out. Some of the things I saw there are just not true,” McVay said. “We discussed it with those people. Teams have been calling about him and we’ve let him know what the dialogue was there and there’s a lot of things where there’s not a lot of accountability on the reports and that’s a shame.

McVay was asked a follow-up question about whether Thursday’s win over the Vikings makes it more likely that the Rams will retain Kupp as the trade deadline approaches. It’s pretty clear that the Rams have no plans to move Kupp before the fifth deadline.

“I think a lot of the stuff that was there was speculative,” he said. “We are an inside-out organization. I am very happy that Cooper Kupp is back with us and I expect it will remain that way.”

In his first game since Week 2, Kupp caught five passes for 51 yards and a touchdown, none bigger than a 27-yarder on the Rams’ final offensive possession to keep the drive alive and the chains on third down move. He didn’t play the usual amount of snaps, but having Kupp on the field in some capacity was beneficial to the entire offense.

McVay is happy to be back and it doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere anytime soon.
