Broncos receiver Josh Reynolds was injured in a shooting and suffered an abrasion to the back of his head

Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds and another man were injured in a shooting last week after two vehicles followed them from a gentlemen’s club in Glendale, Colorado, the documents say.

According to Denver NBC affiliate KUSA, two men, Burr Charlesworth and Luis Mendoza, were arrested in the Oct. 18 shooting, citing police.

Shortly before 3 a.m., police received 911 calls about a shooting near East Hampden Avenue and South Dahlia Street, KUSA reported. One caller said he was driving and had been shot, according to court documents obtained by KUSA.

A second caller said he was being followed and that two of his friends had been shot, the documents state. A third caller said they had been shot at, court records show.

Thanks to GPS tracking, the police were able to locate the victims.

Reynolds was reportedly shot twice, once in the arm and once in the back of the head, KUSA reported. The second man was shot in the back and a third was injured by broken glass.

The victims said they were at Shotgun Willies, a gentlemen’s club in Glendale, and that two vehicles began following them after they left around 2:45 a.m., KUSA reported. They said there were no problems at the club while they were there.

According to the victims, the two vehicles continued to pursue them on the highway. According to the news station, at one point four vehicles were following the car Reynolds was in.

Video at the club allegedly showed Mendoza looking at the victims. Several vehicles were seen pulling into the club’s parking lot and appeared to be waiting for the group to leave, KUSA reported.

Charlesworth, 42, allegedly denied shooting the victims and told investigators he was helping a friend who asked him to follow the group, KUSA said.

Charlesworth and Mendoza, 35, are both charged with attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. An attorney for Charlesworth did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Attorney information for Mendoza was not available.

The Broncos said in a statement to NBC News on Friday that 29-year-old Reynolds was a “victim of a shooting” and was “receiving treatment for minor injuries.”

“Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities,” the team said.

An officer for Reynolds could not immediately be reached. The wide receiver had been on injured reserve for four weeks prior to the shooting.
