All good things must come to an end. Well, maybe good things. Some of us were probably thinking that our summer days might wrap up, wanting some fall-like temperatures since we’re at the end of October. That said, tomorrow will still be a mild day, just not as warm as the past few days. There is a front that will move through tonight and into tomorrow morning that will send us back into fall in terms of temperatures. On the trailing edge of that front is a true October air mass that will persist through Saturday.

Note that the front moving through the Great Lakes tonight will have quite a bit of cloud cover, but very little rain. That will be the same case when it slides through New England tomorrow. I can’t rule out a local shower, but it’s about a 10-20% chance. Most of us won’t see a drop of rain. And for those who do, it will only be a small part of your day. So our dry autumn rolls on…

Speaking of a dry fall, it’s the top ten driest for both Boston and Worcester. Other than this small chance of showers tomorrow, that is our only chance of rain during the seven-day forecast (next Wednesday).

Thursday’s front is the first of two that will pass in the coming days. They were both fluid hungry, but they both cooled down quite significantly. Last Monday, Boston set a new record of 83° for the day and (excluding the immediate coast) we spent those last two days in the upper 70s…summery! This first front on Thursday will bring our temperatures back to typical October levels, but the second will really shock the system as temperatures rise for a few days in mid-November.
