Harris and Trump make a detour from the swing states to campaign in Texas

Laura Barron-Lopez:

Harris’ running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, spent his day appealing to voters in the critical swing state of Pennsylvania.

Harris and Walz are taking advantage of the campaign’s latest fundraiser. In the first half of October, Harris raked in $97 million, compared to Trump’s $16 million. During that same period, Harris spent about $67 million more than Trump, a big hole in campaign funds, but the polls couldn’t get any closer.

The latest national poll from The New York Times and Siena College has Harris and Trump deadlocked for the popular vote, 48 percent to 48 percent. Tonight, Trump heads to battleground Michigan for a rally in Traverse City, and Harris remains in Houston, where she will highlight her reproductive rights policies and join forces with perhaps the most famous Texan of all time, Beyonce.
