Stanton hit a booming two-run homer in the sixth inning to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead against the Dodgers in Game 1 in his first career World Series game Friday night.

The slugger drew a 1-2 knuckle curve from Dodgers starter Jack Flaherty and placed it into the left field seats to give the Yankees the lead.

Stanton followed a strikeout by Aaron Judge after Juan Soto singled to start the inning.

The Dodgers then pulled starter Jack Flaherty just one pitch to the plate appearance of No. 5 hitter Jazz Chisholm in an odd sequence.

The Dodgers had taken the lead in the previous inning on a sacrifice fly by Will Smith.
