    The shooting in Phoenix continues at the half

    The Phoenix Suns (1-0) will play the Los Angeles Lakers (1-0) on Friday at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast on ESPN.

    This is the Suns’ second game in LA after their season-opening 116-113 overtime loss to the Clippers on Wednesday. The Lakers won their home debut against the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103 on Tuesday.

    The Suns’ Kevin Durant and Lakers’ LeBron James will meet and compete against each other for the 41st time in their 18 years. James has gone 18-8 against Durant-led teams in the regular season. In the playoffs, Durant’s teams lead James’ teams 9-5.

    Phoenix remains hot, but LA closes the gap on second place

    The Suns led 61-52 at halftime with Devin Booker scoring 14 and Kevin Durant scoring 13 to lead the Suns.

    Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 15 as Los Angeles closed the gap late in the half.

    Big 3, Sunbeams rain down from deep in the first quarter

    Phoenix closed the first quarter on a 14-5 run and leads LA 38-23.

    The Suns came out on fire, shooting nearly 70% on 16 goals in the first quarter, including eight threes on 15 assists. They finished on a 14–5 run, extending the match’s largest early advantage to 15.

    Devin Booker scored five during that series and had 10 points after one quarter. The other two of Phoenix’s Big 3, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, have seven and five points, respectively.

    Starting lineups

    The Suns start Tyus Jones and Devin Booker in the backcourt, Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant and Jusuf Nurkic.

    The Lakers open with D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, LeBron James, Rui Hachiumura and Anthony Davis.

    Suns’ Beal available, Allen out

    Bradley Beal (shoulder) has been upgraded to available. Grayson Allen (Achilles), the Suns’ sixth man, has been demoted to inactive.

    Suns, Lakers injury reports

    Suns wings Bradley Beal (shoulder) and Grayson Allen (Achilles) are likely, and Josh Okogie (hamstring) is out.

    Lakers four-man Jaxson Hayes (foot) is likely. His fellow players Jalen Hood-Schifino (illness), Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) and Christian Koloko are out.
