It’s still hard to believe the Nicolas Cage Spider-Man Noir show is real, but the early set photos are stunning

I blogged about Nicolas Cage potentially reprising his role as ‘Spider-Man Noir’ in a new Amazon Prime live-action series earlier this year, and talked about how much potential I think this show could have if done right… no matter how strange it sounds.

But listen to me. You take a little bit of Sin City, you take a little bit of Dick Tracy, you do some fun Spidey-esque gags and tricks, and combine that with Nicolas Cage playing an old, cigarette-smoking, depression-era multiversal detective Spider-Man. (instead of just voicing him in ‘Into The Spider-Verse’) and you have a certified hit on your hands. It’s just a matter of setting the mood and doing it right.

But after seeing these set photos, I’m confident they already capture the atmosphere and I’m about to go all-in on the series before I’ve even seen a teaser trailer.

For all I know, the show could even be in black and white (I think it should be!) and the trippy visuals may be half the appeal….

….but me STILL think the suit and overall aesthetic look great just from these crappy set photos! As far as I know it will be completely disconnected from any other Spider-Man properties, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some “Into the Spider-Verse” references in there. Standing alone is probably best to avoid confusion: we already have enough Spider-Men running around cinematically.

As I noted in my last blog about this, Nicolas Cage recently started doing television shows. Yes, you read that right: Nicolas Cage recently started doing television shows. Apparently all he did was watch movies before his son forced him to sit down and watch ‘Breaking Bad’ a little over a year ago – and now he’s caught the bug and is determined to make his first great television series.

Could this be the great series to come from that new passion of TV?! I certainly hope so.

Here’s the best of Cage as ‘Spider-Man Noir’ from ‘Into the Spider-Verse’….
