Judge, Yankees look for quick turnaround after Game 1 loss

The New York Yankees are keeping their cool after dramatically losing Game 1 of the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

“We know we have another game tomorrow, I think what it comes down to,” Aaron Judge said of his club’s ability to turn the page, according to SNY.

“If we lose a game, the first one like that, we have one more chance to take stock before we return to the Bronx.”

The Yankees scored a run and took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 10th inning. Jazz Chisholm Jr. stole second and third base and induced an RBI ground out by short stop Anthony Volpe.

But things went wrong for the Yankees in the bottom half of the inning.

New York brought in Nestor Cortes to face Shohei Ohtani with runners on first and second base. After causing a flyout, he intentionally walked Mookie Betts to load the bases before Freddie Freeman’s eventual walk-off grand slam.

“It was a great game,” Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo said, according to SNY.

“We talked about it afterward. It (was) a great opening act for the World Series, and we lost. If you come back tomorrow, you have a chance to split and go home with a 1-1 split. “

History is not in the Yankees’ favor; According to Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com, 23 of the 29 teams that have won the World Series Game 1 since 1995 have won the championship.

New York will send Carlos Rodón to the mound opposite Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Game 2 to even things out.

The first pitch is scheduled for Saturday at 8:08 PM ET.
