Red Flag Warning issued for Western Massachusetts

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A Red flag warning is in effect for all of Western Massachusetts on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. due to the potential for wildfires that could spread quickly due to dry and windy conditions.

Last October weekend fall foliage report in Massachusetts

A Red Flag Warning is the highest level of warning from the National Weather Service and is issued when dry conditions are accompanied by high wind speeds. This means that there are critical fire conditions and any fires can spread quickly and be difficult to extinguish.

Dry weather and gusty winds will result in potentially critical fire conditions. Saturday will see a mix of sun and clouds, with highs in the low 60s. It will be windy and skies will be partly cloudy Saturday night with lows in the 30s.
