It’s time for the 122nd edition of the Zonnebloem Showdown.

Your Kansas State Wildcats take the field tonight at 6-1 on the season, 3-1 in Big 12 play, and riding a 15-game winning streak over tonight’s visitors at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. K-State is 28-7 over KU since 1989, with only two of those losses during that span (1989 and 2007) coming in Manhattan.

KU enters tonight’s game at 2-5 overall and 1-3 in Big 12 play. Their best win, and only FBS win, came last weekend when they topped a Houston squad that fell to 2-5, 1-3 with the loss. Not exactly inspiring. But the Hawks are still dangerous, with talented skill position players on both sides of the ball, including star running back Devin Neal Jr. – one of the few Kansans in the starting rotation.

There’s not much to say about this one. The Wildcats are ranked and have some solid wins under their belt. They’re also home for the first time in almost a month – in fact, it’s Homecoming this weekend – and BSFS will be too. to rock for this rivalry game. KU is underperforming (again) and has done worse on the road than in their temporary homes. Last year’s game in Lawrence was the closest the series would get for a while, but it feels like the two teams are heading in opposite directions again, and it’s more likely that this will end up being a K-State blowout than a exciting match. As long as the Wildcats take their opponent seriously, this is an easy win in K-State.

Time to take care of business – let’s get this winning streak, it’s a driver’s license.
