Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter Debut ‘Espresso (Taylor’s Version)’ During Eras Tour

Yes, even Taylor Swift has ‘Espresso’ in her head.

On the second night of her New Orleans Eras Tour, Swift ignored persistent calls for one Reputation (TV) announcement, but replaced it with something unexpected. During the acoustic portion of the evening, she pulled out a surprise song that no one could have predicted because it’s literally not in her discography.

“I’m going to sing a song that doesn’t belong to me, but to someone I really love,” she told the audience, in a TikTok video shared by @lovelisapizzy. “It’s in my head, and it would make me feel good to know that 65,000 other people had the sun in their heads just like me.”

From there, she launched into the first verse of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso,” which previously opened for the pop star on the Latin American leg of the Eras Tour, as well as several other international stops. After noting how “proud” she is of her friend’s meteoric rise to the top of the charts this summer, Swift decided to call the singer. Of course, it was a little hard to hear their conversation because of all the shouting. Don’t worry, Swift silenced the crowd multiple times, which online fans found “if not serious.”

“Is there any chance you can get off the roller coaster you’re on, put on some clothes and just get through the stadium?” Swift asked Carpenter, according to a particularly clear video shared by @lxv.swift13. “Ballpark, how long did that take you?” The carpenter’s answer: five seconds.
