Browns LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah immobilized, carted away

CLEVELAND – Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah has been ruled out because of a neck injury that forced him to be immobilized in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Owusu-Koramoah suffered the injury after a collision with running back Derrick Henry. He was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, but he has movement in all extremities.

Henry’s arm made contact with Owusu-Koramoah’s neck as Owusu-Koramoah attempted to make a tackle. He was driven back and remained on the ground after the match.

After medical trainers attended to Owusu-Koramoah for several minutes, he was placed on a backboard and carted off the field. Owusu-Koramoah raised his right fist as he left the field.

Owusu-Koramoah, a fourth-year player out of Notre Dame, was named to his first Pro Bowl last season. He entered Week 8 leading the Browns with 54 tackles.

Browns cornerback Denzel Ward has also been ruled out. He is in the concussion protocol, but has not yet been diagnosed with a concussion.

Ward has suffered five documented concussions since entering the NFL, the last of which occurred in August.
